Conferences
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve in Gansbaai offers the perfect venue for conferencing and events. We specialize in conference groups from 10-60 delegates and are not open to non-resident guests.The tranquil environment away from the hectic city lends itself to a creative and productive getaway. The 1700-hectare reserve is situated on the hills overlooking Walker Bay with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the distant Cape of Good Hope and Overberg.
Delegates are provided with luxury conference accommodation. All rooms have twin beds, duvets, cotton linen and the sounds of nature coming from the Grootbos reserve rejuvenate the body and soul for the day that lies ahead.
With a staff compliment of 120, Grootbos is a flexible and private venue with a standard of service that will exceed your expectations. All meals are prepared by our Master chefs and served in our magnificent restaurant that overlooks Walker Bay. With dinner we offer only the best of Cape wines in a social atmosphere, while our comprehensive bar and lounge provide for a congenial environment to relax and socialise after a day of conferencing.
The Lodge houses the restaurant, bar, lounge and conference room. We are able to offer the exclusive use of both Grootbos Lodges for the duration of a conferencing and events. This allows us to develop a flexible itinerary and opens all facilities exclusively to the group. These include the swimming pool, bar, library, information and conference centre and all the reserve’s facilities.
Grootbos Creative Conferencing & Events Centre offers the sophisticated corporate customer an experience out of the ordinary: State-of-the-art conferencing facilities, embedded in a natural setting that will have delegates unwinding the minute their feet touch Grootbos ground in Gansbaai.
The seating arrangement in the main conference room can be a u-shaped seating arrangement, cinema-style and boardroom-style. There are breakaway rooms available during the period of the conference.
All facilities are fully equipped with modern audio-visual and media requirements such as video conferencing, VOIP phones, wireless internet access, data projectors, DVD players, video and television equipment, flip charts and large white screens. Additional services such as fax, photocopying and a postal service are available with the special Grootbos Secretarial Service set out to offer a flexible service that will have you astonished.
After a hard day of conferencing one can easily melt into the serene settings of the nature reserve, taking in the peace and serenity of the pool surroundings, languishing in the bar for sun-downers, indulging your literary senses in the spacious library, enjoying the breathtaking views of Walker Bay and the surrounding Klein River Mountains or taking a stroll to one of the 27 luxury suites where the delegate ends the day in one of the elegantly furnished accommodation suites.
Accommodation
There are 27 en-suite luxury suites, however due to our unique accommodation we can accommodate 35 singles and up to 60 sharing in beds. Each suite has a separate bedroom, lounge, airy bathroom and a large wooden deck. The suites are equipped with a minibar, tea and coffee making facility, fresh fruit basket and fireplace. The extra-length beds with down duvets, heated blankets and cotton linen provide comfort for all. The bathrooms have either a bath/shower or a double shower, double basins and heated towel rails. The views from all cottages stretch over rolling Fynbos hills, Milkwood forests and Walker Bay.
Meals
Our breakfasts consist of a full continental buffet and an English breakfast menu. This includes freshly baked croissants and rolls, home made jams, cheese platters and a selection of quality cold meats.
Morning and afternoon tea and coffee will be served with biscuits and freshly baked cake on the outside terrace. During the conference we will supply sparkling and still mineral water and peppermints.
Lunch buffets include pastas with a variation of delicious sauces e.g. fresh mushroom and bacon, smoked salmon or sea foods and fresh salads, bread and deserts.
Dinner can be anything from a meat / fish braai to a 7 course gourmet wine evening. We cater for all conferencing and events requirements to suit the delegate’s needs and wishes.
Activities Beyond Conferencing
Our guiding team of eight professional guides will provide an exciting programme of activities for the delegates. All of our standard guided activities are available. These include horse riding, Fynbos and forest walks on the reserve, Gansbaai coastal cliff and beach tours. We have also devised special programmes including visits to Klipgat cave, barge trips on the Stanford River, boat trips to Dyer Island to view the Seals and Penguins, boat-based whale watching (June - November) or boat trips to view the great white sharks.
Special team-building activities can be arranged to suit the needs of your company and the goals of your conference. These include tailor made events such as strategic treasure hunts, orienteering exercises and art activities.
Conferencing at Grootbos includes events such as themed evenings such as drumming, live music, motivational speakers, yearend functions and parties are arranged to make the stay at Grootbos a success for every company’s requirements.
