Happy Birthday Madiba!

On the 18th of June, the Football and Grootbos Foundations celebrated Madiba's birthday in their own special and unique ways!

What Madiba day is all about

We celbrated Madiba's 94th birthday by giving back to our communities, as Nelson Mandela did for his country by spending 67 years of his life fighting for social justice and a free, democratic South Africa. People around the world are encouraged to spend at least 67 minutes doing something positive for their communities in honour of Nelson Mandela.

International Nelson Mandela Day aims to inspire a ripple of good deeds throughout the world, and looks to encourage individuals, communities, governments and non-profit organisations to take one small step towards the larger leap of making a positive imprint.

Mandela Day is a call to action for individuals - for people everywhere - to take responsibility for changing the world into a better place, one small step at a time, just as Madiba did.

Football Foundation

The Football Foundation of South Africa's staff and volunteers dedicated their morning of the 18th of July visiting five crèches around the Gansbaai area, starting in Masakhane and finishing in Beverly Hills, Blompark. The staff handed out food to the schools and T-shirts and tracksuits to the children! It was a rewarding experience and lots of fun for all!

Grootbos Foundation

In honour of Nelson Mandela and the spirit of community building, our students Green Futures and Growing the Futures students and staff decided that they would like to spend their 67 minutes getting to know each other better!

Our Growing the Future students were welcomed by the Green Futures group at our Green Futures College! They got together and sang some some songs, spreading general good will!

They also sang a few songs!

From everyone at the Foundation, we would just like to say:
