The Green Futures Horticultural and Life Skills College, which has been training disadvantaged youth from Gansbaai since 2003, was recently very pleased to received a donation R220 000.00 from the ABSA Foundation.

The funds are being invested into the development of young people living in an around Gansbaai by providing them with a broad range of plant-based technical skills and life skills. The one year Green Futures course provides students with a diversity of skills pertaining to a career based on plants, horticulture, ecotourism and conservation. The course also has a strong focus on the development of the individual's life skills providing graduates with a greater chance of succeeding in their career (for more info see www.grootbos.com and www.greenfutures.co.za). The College has been in operation since August 2003 and has produced in excess of ninety graduates who today are employed in horticultural, conservation, ecotourism and other sectors throughout the Cape.

We would like to thank the ABSA Foundation for their generous contribution as well as the investment that they have made in the lives of our Green Futures students! We look forward to seeing the further growth and development of our students as a result of the funding we have received.

We would like to say a special thank you to Mr. Paul Golding of the ABSA Foundation who facilitated the donation. Well done to ABSA for their contribution to the development of the youth in our area!
