Eden Project Update

Posted under Eco-Tourism Blog by Grootbos on 17th October 2011

Hi all, We are having a wonderful time at Eden. Each day passes by so quickly - we wish there were more hours in the day, & days in the week.

We have a few more pictures to share with you of our recent activities which include the past weekend.

Celina enjoyed a few days in the retail nursery Department & here Angela is showing her the ropes.

Celina attending to the finer details of plant care in the nursery shop.

We attended - The Big Autumn Bash Hoedown Showdown - an Eden musical fundraising event which was extremely well attended & great fun indeed. Inhibitions went out the door & everyone had a fantastic time. We enjoyed a really tasty home cooked meal of which we could choose either a bean curry or winter stew, & we danced the night away whilst chatting to new friends.

The team tasting a warm Cornwall cider.

Eden has their very own band, & here lead singer is doing a Freddie Mercury impersonation - with apologies to the King!

The Eden Band - they are such fun as all their song lyrics are in fact a comical stance on vegetables & how we perceive & relate to them!

The team wanted to spend a morning shopping in St Austel so here they are in the middle of the town as we set off. I discovered they are all shop-aholics, but if we had to choose a prizewinner...the award would go to .......Celina! Not only did everyone finds something for themselves, mostly clothes, presents were also bought for children, wives, girlfriends & other family members.

Kevin Austin, the Outdoor Biome Supervisor, invited us to his smallholding in an adjacent village so we had a fun time there, looking around, trying our hand at grass cutting sans any electrical equipment, enjoying his pigs, admiring his French breed working horses - what powerful & good looking animals they are, pure muscle, & sampling his delicious crop of tomatoes.

In the Yurt in the garden, with his lovely daughters. We had a great time Kevin, thank you so much.

We have many more tales & photographs to share & will post more soon.

Miss you all at Grootbos.

Regards,

Joan, Celina, Azukile & Mlindeli
