After our recent visit to The Eden Project in Cornwall, UK, which was sponsored by the British High Commission, the staff and ex-students and students most likely to visit Eden next year, were invited to meet the their Royal Highnesses, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla.

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures during their meeting, but if you look closely at the photograph taken during the tree planting, you will see some of students/staff in the background!

This is what Viola Siyotywa, Life Skills Trainer at Growing the Future had to say about their experience.

A visit to the Prince

On the 5th of November 2011 we visited Kirstenbosh in Cape Town to meet Honourable Prince Charles and his wife Camilla. We practised some songs and speech for welcoming him. On our way to Cape Town we were also singing and enjoying Susan driving so much. We designed our stand that showed the background of Green Futures and how it is related with Cornwall. The Prince was very much attracted by that. He came straight to us to shake hands, ask questions about who we are, where we come from and if we enjoyed the three weeks practicals in Cornwall. We were excited and pleased with the visit.

We thank the Grootbos Foundation for that opportunity.
