Beekeeping at Growing the Future

Posted under Eco-Tourism Blog by Grootbos on 3rd August 2011

Spring is fast approaching and our bee's are busier than ever. The queen will be laying lots of eggs and the worker bees are collecting pollen and honey to feed the baby bees!

Our 40 swarms are big and strong enough to collect plenty of nectar. This means lots of honey!

The fynbos species currently in flower are: Erica irregularis (Gansbaai Erica), Osteospermum monilifera (Chysanthemoides monilifera - Bietou) and Metalasia sp. (Blombos). Our fynbos honey will have a great flavour!

We can't wait for the spring and the Grootbos honey!
