Growing the Future visits Madron's Lettuce Farm

Posted under Eco-Tourism Blog by Grootbos on 15th November 2012

The Growing the Future students visited Madron, a lettuce farm in Stanford, to see different varieties of lettuce and herbs.

We met Charlie, the manager, who guided us through the gardens and taught us about how they practice their farming. The talk was interesting, he told us about growing plants, watering and scouting your vegetables. Scouting means that, you look around your vegetables and try to see if there can be any insects damaging your plants or sitting under the leaves.

Anyway, the tour was fantastic and the ladies learnt a lot!
