Growing the Future Outing to Appelsdrift Farm!

One thing the students really enjoy is going out on an excursion! This gives them the opportunity to learn and see something new. For this excursion, we visited an organic vegetable farm called Appelsdrif, near Napier.

At Appelsdrif, they farm a large variety of organic herbs and vegetables on three hectares of land. They also farm heirloom vegetables. Heirloom vegetables are old vegetable varieties with special characteristics like a special taste or colour. Appelsdrif delivers their produce to a box scheme in Cape Town. The students also found the colourful Boschvelder chickens very interesting. The students enjoyed the day and learnt a lot. The students are already looking forward to their next excursion!
