Dibanisa Lesson 2: Visit to Green Futures

Posted under Eco-Tourism Blog by Grootbos on 16th August 2011

We visited Susan in the Green Futures class room where she told us more about fynbos. We learnt that in order for fynbos to be fynbos, it has to have Erica's, Protea's and Restios. The children learnt that all of these plants are indigenous. Sharlene told us about plants and what they need in order to healthy and happy. Each child had the opportunity to plant their own Plectranthus plant, which they took home and will be planted in the school garden once it is bigger! To finish of our lesson, the children collected various natural materials which they used to make a mobile, assisted by the Football Foundation volunteers.

We would also like to thank all of our volunteers for their assistance! We are looking forward to our visit to the Dyer Island Conservation Trust this week where we will learn more about the Marine Big 5!
