Dibanisa Lesson 5.3: Art Lesson

Posted under Eco-Tourism Blog by Grootbos on 28th August 2012

For this term's Art Lesson, we did something a little bit different! During a recent visit to Die Plaat, we noticed that one of their bins was falling apart. We thought it would be a nice idea to get our Dibanisa kids to pain bins and then to donate them to a community organisation like Cape Nature or the Overstrand Municipality. If you have a close look at this picture, you will see that the bottom of the bin is rusted through and that the rubbish is fallen through it.

We managed to source an oil drum from the Overberg Agri and we got some non-toxic paint. Last week's lesson took place at the school. The girls took a look at various pictures and then started painting their oil drum with flowers and fish! Some of the Football Foundation volunteers also got involved.

By the end of the session, we had a beautiful new bin, which we are going to donate to Cape Nature.

A big thank you goes to Deon for organising the workspace and to the kids who participated, as well as our enthusiastic volunteers! We look forward to our beach clean-up Friday!
