Fourth Dibanisa Group for 2011 kicks off!

Last Friday, we had our first group from Die Bron Primary school in Stanford. 20 learners from this school have been chosen to participate in the 7 week Dibanisa Environmental Education programme.

For our introductory lesson, we went to Growing the Future, one of the Grootbos Foundation’s social upliftment projects. Susan told the kids more about the main ecosystems in our area – coastal and fynbos.

We then went for a walk in the Fynbos, surrounding Growing the Future

We met back at the Growing the Future shed where Susan concluded the lesson by demonstrating what happens when we remove one element in an ecosystem.

The Football Foundation coaches and volunteers played two games illustrating environmental protection with the children.

An especial thank you goes to Natasha Bredekamp from the Football Foundation and her team (Kaizer, Louisa and Tilman) for their assistance this week! We couldn’t have done it without you!

We look forward to our next lesson, which will take place at Green Futures next week!
