- You will be greeted with a warm towel to wipe away the travel fatigue while a member of staff parks your car and places your luggage in your suite.

- We highly recommend sitting down to a decadent lunch on our outside deck so you can grasp the natural spectacle of Grootbos and the panoramic views over Walker Bay as the kids run around the garden.

- When you are ready, a guide will sit down with you and take you through the list of activities available at Grootbos.

- You will then be led along the cobbled pathway to your self-standing suite nestled in the indigenous vegetation. Make yourself at home and when you are ready we can begin the family fun.

- One of our guides will show you and your family around so that you can familiarise yourself with all the different facilities.

- Relax on your private balcony, by the swimming pool or entice the young inquisitive minds by exploring the inter-tidal zone and identifying common organisms like crustaceans, anemones and snails.

- Take your time to relax and freshen up before making your way to the main lodge for a sensational gourmet dinner.

- Adults can relish a six-course dinner whilst the children choose from our yummy kiddie menu. We serve dinner for children anytime from 18h00 but if they are used to eating before this it can easily be arranged. Families can either dine together in the restaurant or the children can eat earlier and then play in the Activities Room with a child-minder for the rest of the evening. All you have to do is let us know what your family wants and we are happy to accommodate for any of these needs to ensure a wonderful evening at Grootbos.

Day 2

- If your children fancy the idea of collecting their own eggs for breakfast then one of our guides can meet you at Reception to take the kids to the chicken coup on Grootbos.

- Afterwards you can all sit down to the breakfast buffet and choose something mouth-watering from the hot menu.

- Explore the breath-taking environment with a Treasure Hunt through the wild fynbos and ancient Milkwood forest. As the children eagerly search for the hidden treats you can all learn about the significant ecosystem thriving on Grootbos with a dedicated guide.

- Take advantage of the sweeping views during a scrumptious lunch in the restaurant or outside in the fresh air.

- The kids can take a fun Pony Ride in the paddock with one of our specialised guides. Let the smiles broaden as these soft-natured ponies take your children on an unforgettable ride. If they are older and able riders then the whole family can go for a relaxed horse ride through the lush reserve.

- For anyone with a sweet tooth there will be Pancake & Waffle making in the playroom. Parents can take this time to join in the culinary fun or choose to relax.

- Sit down to a fusion of culinary delights during a six-course dinner. Our chefs insist on using only the freshest ingredients so most of our produce is home-grown and organic while our seafood is straight from the sea. Needless to say, every meal is an explosion of flavour.

- The whole family can dine together by the cosy fireplace in the restaurant or the kids can watch movies and eat popcorn in the playroom after an early dinner and leave the fine dining to the parents.

- End an incredible day with a sensational six-course dinner complemented by a bottle of delicious local wine while the kids stay amused with a child-minder in the playroom.
