Getting close and comfy with the Big Whites

Grootbos, in partnership with Marine Dynamics, is geared to take you on a captivating boat cruise to the world-renowned Shark Alley between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock where the Great Whites feed on the Cape Fur Seal colonies. To witness a shark breaching over 2m out of the water in pursuit of its prey is an ultimate WOW experience. The sharks are curious and circle the boats, providing you with fascinating close-up surface views.

Take a Dive into the Deep End (The Cage)

For an even closer encounter with the most successful predator in the world, you can enter the cage and duck underwater to meet them face to face. No diving experience is required, and all equipment is provided on board. The specially designed cage is very secure, and floats with part of the cage out of the water. Divers are never more than a metre below the surface. When the sharks are around the boat, the divers get into the cage and the sharks are lured to within centimetres from the cage. Now you can see they have no eyelids and make no sound. Their spectacular streamlined bodies, weighing up to 2 000 kg, are counter-shaded with white bellies, making them hard to see by their prey. An average of 4 to 5 sharks are usually encountered, but as many as 18 have been seen.

Take a dive into the deep side and indulge your adventurous spirit. Grootbos offers the unique combination of luxury 5 star accommodation and adrenaline-pumping thrills. Grootbos is in partnership with Marine Dynamics, the best shark cage diving company in Gansbaai, and no prior bookings need to be made.
