Our horses are well-cared for and well-behaved, catering for beginners to experienced riders. At Grootbos we also have ponies for the children to enjoy.

CAVE TOUR AND TIDAL POOL FORAGING

At the footsteps of Walker Bay lies the cradle of human culture, caves that were home to our ancestors. Discover the ancient secret the coastal caves hold. Soak up the panoramic views, explore tidal pools and long stretches of white sandy beaches. Forage for mussels, kelp or coastal plant species and transform them into a fresh, delicious dish with our expert chefs in the Grootbos kitchens.

HIVE TO HOME HONEY EXPERIENCE

Honey, I’m home… Suit up and let our very own beekeeper reveal the intricate relationship bees have with fynbos. This is a special time of year as the cooler temperatures lower the bees’ activity and allow us a glimpse inside their world. Taste the delicious honey, that is incorporated into tasty dishes, including our popular home-made honey ice cream.

UNIQUE SPECIES FOUND NOWHERE ELSE

From May to July each year, our best kept secret, the Erica irregularis, envelope the reserve into a pink floral paradise. Experience these blushing fields during the Secret Season.
