This was the eighth year that the Mail & Guardian has hosted the Greening the Future Awards, held annually in June to celebrate Environment Month.

As the welcoming rays of first sunlight appeared over the hill behind Garden Lodge, Ronelle went off to locate the missing hen. A fluttering feather caught in a fence lead her to a fynbos thicket not far from the chicken coop. There she discovered the feathered remains of Fleck%u2019s mother. From the unmistakable feline spoor leading from the thicket, it was clear that a Caracal had taken prey on the unsuspecting hen leaving Fleck alone to fend for herself.

Dibanisa: Celebrating World Oceans Day!

On Wednesday, the 8th of June, and coincidentally World Oceans Day, we visited the Great White House in Kleinbaai with our Dibanisa group! Throughout the Dibanisa Programme children have been educated about the local environment and have been encouraged to look after Gansbaai's beautiful surroundings; therefore Wednesday's class was an ideal continuation of the previous sessions, as it provided inspiration and an incentive to put learning into practice...
