Grootbos, together with the Grootbos Foundation: a tourism model that drives positive impact

"Every Action We Take Has A Positive Impact"

Grootbos is about more than luxury travel and from inception created a tourism model representing shared value.
In 2003, Grootbos formalised its conservation and community initiatives with the creation of the Grootbos Foundation and these programmes have grown to reach over 11 000 beneficiaries each year through various education, sports development, careers, employability and entrepreneurship initiatives. Together we and conserve more than 20 000 hectares of the Cape Floral Kingdom across the region.
Grootbos believes in the power of tourism to create positive impact and works to share this vision across the industry, with our guests and our team. In the months of the Secret Season, this is an opportune time to learn a little more about the symbiotic nature of Grootbos and the Grootbos Foundation and be inspired by some of the innovative, fun and far reaching progressive projects we have on the go.

What's new at Grootbos - New Garden Lodge and Florilegium

The last year has been a busy one at Grootbos. We rebuilt our beloved Garden Lodge entirely and re-opened it in April 2022. We also officially launched the Grootbos Florilegium - Africa's first contemporary florilegium - which is a collection of botanical illustrations created by local and international artists, depicting the charismatic plants found on our reserve and the surrounding regions.
